Madoff and his Ponzi Scheme
Sunday December 28, 2008
In a ponzi scheme, the person running it rips off the rich. The investors, however, have plotted to rip off the poor. All things being equal, the ponzi guy is morally superior to the investor.
I am glad that the Rabbi noted that we will be judged on our ethical behavior, and not on the rituals we perform. Non-profits go through a ritual, and those non-profits include churches and charities. Where the money comes from is as important as where it goes. Investors only have extra cash by selling 'too high.'
Taking interest is taking blood money from the next generation. Modern man is so confused that today he takes interest with one hand and pays it with the other.
The next generation is always born into a world where the previous generation owns everything.
Please ponder Leviticus 25:36-38 Do not take interest of any kind from him, but fear your God, so that your countryman may continue to live among you. You must not lend him money at interest or sell him food at a profit. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
Jesus was a Jew. Love your enemy. Stop clutching your possessions. Put your faith in God and one another, and not in money. Nobody can serve two masters, not even a rabbi.
All profit is a problem; not just the profit on money, but profit on money is the worst of the two. Prophets have always warned about profit, but the people have never listened. They always trust the government and guns instead; like a Warren Zevon song: send Lawyers, Guns and Money, and ignore the Messiah. Insist on a separation of God and life.
Matthew 23:37
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
Open your heart and open your mind; things are not what they seem.
